Packages covered by the carriers

Some shipping carriers provide $100.00 of free liability coverage with every shipment. This includes UPS, FedEx, an the U.S. Postal service Express Mail service. Packages that are shipped via these services and valued under $100.00 are fully covered by the shipping carriers.

Our eReport for eBay program is setup to support this scenario. This is how it is displayed to the user:

  1. Once you select the shipments you want to insure from the "Items to Insure" tab and transmit them, you will see the following screen:

  2. If you click "OK", the program will send the shipments to Shipsurance for coverage and provide you a status screen:

Notice the 4th line in the screen shot, above. The program will alert you if there are any shipments covered by the carrier.
  3. If you click on the "Insurance History" tab, all the shipments will be listed there. Notice the "$100 Units" for the screen shot below is set to "0" and the "Ins Cost" is set to "$0.00". This is because the sample shipment was sent via Express Mail and valued under $100.00. It was fully covered by the shipping carrier. This shipment will not be insured by Shipsurance and there will be no premiums collected.
